For me to preserve and strengthen our folkdance through promoting and performing it in any ways like group dance compettitions in school either local , national or international through the help of teachers specially in mapeh. And also as a member of the society I will use my voice to speak and teach people for what the importance of folkdance and should not be forgotten.
And to explain that in every action and movements in dancing is has there own meaning that will make you astonish. I will bring them back to the past years that folkdance was existing. During the Soviet occupation in the following years living traditions were suppressed due to the new regime.
During the s, the cultural politics became less strict and there was an awakening of traditional folk dances, but now as staged performances. Several decades later a new wave of folk dancing movement was on its way. The new practice of folk dancing beyond the stage became popular and people from both young and old generations took part.
The aim of the Lithuanian Ethnic Culture Society was to promote almost lost social function of folk dancing, which is the opposite of the dance performance on the stage. The main goals of the Club are to spread traditional Lithuanian dances to the society and to develop methods of teaching traditional dancing by cooperating with teachers from all over Lithuania and other European countries.
First dancing activities of the Club took place in cafes, small restaurants and halls, but soon it moved to larger spaces and during summertime — to the squares of the old town in Vilnius.
Folk arts, specifically folk music and dance, embody fundamental values of great worth to our culture, our nation, and our children. There is no better way to share time together as families and friends. Our job is to preserve the joyful tunes we've inherited from our ancestors and to pass them on to others. A group called Colerain Connection is quite dedicated to the dissemination and preservation of traditional folk arts.
It is very important to see musical artists performing on instruments they have hand crafted, or playing vibrant melodies from their grandfather's fiddle. This group is all about preserving history and tradition.
